Molly Rumbelow
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
I am a Blue Badge Guide, City of London Guide and Art Historian. I teach London History for American University programmes. I have lectured to various institutions and organisations which include The Arts Society. The Friends of Victoria and Albert Museum and the Art Fund.
I have an BA Honours degree in Art History from the University of London and an MA in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art. I also hold a City & Guilds Cert Ed.
I am privileged to be a Freeman of the City of London and a Founder Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars. (This is one of the City of London’s famous Livery Companies or Guilds.)
After attending the City of London Guide Course and qualifying as a City of London Guide, myself and colleagues formed the City of London Guide Association of which I was the founder member.
My passion for London began in 1982 when I began to dig it up! I worked for the Museum of London for two years as volunteer archaeologist on a number of City of London sites, which included Pudding Lane where the Great Fire of London began.
I conduct many walking tours and visits in the City of London. These include, Roman London; The Museum of London; Medieval City & the Guilds; Fleet Street & The Inns of Court; The Secrets & Splendours of St Paul’s Cathedral; Pepys Plague & Fire; Charles Dickens; Christopher Wren’s London: Hidden Hostelries; and the Tower of London.
After qualifying as a Blue Badge Guide I began to specialise in walking tours and the arts. I do many different types of walking tours and visits of London which include. Albertopolis (Kensington Museum Quarter and area); Old Westminster and the Houses of Parliament (outside only); Westminster Abbey; Royal London which includes the Changing of the Guard; St James & Piccadilly; Bloomsbury Arts & Crafts: Charles Dickens; Chelsea Arts & Crafts; Chelsea Pub Walk; Chiswick House & Gardens; The East End, Spitalfields and Dennis Severs House; Immigration London; Jack the Ripper; Greenwich & The Royal Observatory; Kensington Village; Kensington Palace & Gardens; Kew Palace & Gardens: Legal & Illegal London with The Royal Courts of Justice; Leighton House - Holland Park & The Melbury Road Set; Shakespeare & Dickens;
For 25 years I have worked with a specialised team of guides at the British Museum. This work includes giving in depth tours, working with curators and guiding in some of major exhibitions
I can arrange a general tour of the Museum or focus on different civilisations represented there, e.g. Egyptians Assyrian, Greek & Roman departments.
I conduct tours at the National Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, which I specialise in. I also do visits to the National Portrait Gallery, Wallace Collection and other smaller museums in London and outside London.
There are many places to see outside of London which are full day visits all manageable by train. Too numerous to mention but my personal recommendations are Hampton Court Palace; Windsor Castle & Eton; (I am an accredited guide for Windsor & Eton). Greenwich & The Maritime Museum, (full day with a boat trip along the Thames); The Roman Baths & Eighteen Century Bath; Oxford Colleges & the Ashmolean Museum. Regency Brighton & the Royal Pavilion.
There are many more that can be put up for discussion.
Any of these walks or visits can be adapted and designed to accommodate your visit.
Whatever your range of interests please do get in touch. If you have only two hours, a morning, a full day, or a week to fill, let us have a chat. Any tours can be designed for two persons, groups which are large or small, school groups, and student groups. Anything is possible!
