Liz Rubenstein

Liz Rubenstein

Hello, Bonjour, Shalom! I am a very proud third-generation Londoner. Enthusiastic, lively, and passionate about the greatest city in the world! Particular specialism in working with children and teenagers and family groups, although I have many years experience working with all types of visitors whether their visit is for business or for pleasure. I take great delight in bringing places to life and giving them meaning. Sightseeing is not just about history and any visit should be fun! It's the stories that count! Vast experience as a tour manager as well as over 20 years as a London Blue Badge Tourist Guide combines together to make for an understanding of people and their requirements and the need for flexibility. Time is precious when travelling but it's also important not to overdo things! Sometimes less can be more! Any good plan can always be the basis for change - it's all about you and not about me! I do have a particular interest in government and politics and hold the accreditation to guide inside the Palace of Westminster [Houses of Parliament]. I have also developed a Suffragettes in London walking tour around the Westminster area which was created initially for UK A Level Politics students but has been of great interest to a variety of people from various backgrounds and countries. I love walking tours - exploring a smaller area more in-depth can be a great way to spend a couple of hours whether it's ghosts, plague and executions on the Dark Side in the City, Immigration in the East End, Theatreland around Covent Garden, or Victoria and Albert in South Kensington. Maybe you prefer a tour focusing on food or drink? Not a problem! In fact, anything is pretty much possible, just ask! More general walks of course are also the perfect introduction if you have never been here before. See all the "big" sights either from the outside or include an internal visit with no hurry and there will always be opportunities for loo breaks and refreshments! As a Blue Badge Tourist Guide I can guide you inside the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Tate Modern, The British Museum and so much more. I will always plan a tour for your specific interests and needs and I will always be honest and tell you what will or won't work within the time limits etc. There are no scripts and no fixed routes and if you have a particular interest then just ask! I lead tours in English, French and Hebrew.

Here are just a few testimonials:

Liz was great! We spent 2 half days with her, and each of the tours we had with her was interesting, fun and enriching. She explained well beyond the places we visited, answered questions with patience and all with a lot of energy and a good vibe!

I want to thank you so much for giving us this wonderful experience. Liz was just amazing. Kids loved her and she was just a great tour guide.

Thank you so much for your assistance with the Hollowell family yesterday. I appreciate you going above and beyond to make sure the guests went away from the tour very pleased, after a dramatic arrival. This was a freak incident, which we have never experienced before, however, we were greatly reliant on your expertise and bubbly character to turn the event around. Credit is certainly due to you Liz.

Just a quick email to say thank you for looking after this group!
Their feedback comment was - Our Blue Badge Guide was hilarious and a real hit with the whole group! Her knowledge was first-rate and she went out of her way to engage the students.

Thank you for providing them with a fantastic experience!

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this...I just wanted to not how FANTASTIC Liz Rubenstein was (or blue badge tour guide). Her knowledge was excellent, but she was also brilliant with the group of boys we had. She was very humorous and knew exactly how to engage them. A very nice, warm and friendly person.

“I didn't expect to enjoy the tour from the coach but our guide made it interesting, funny and the facts relatable.”

I just wanted to send you a quick email to thank you again for today. My kids had a fantastic time and won't stop talking about all that they learned from you and what a great day it was!
You are so knowledgeable and taught us all so much great London history.

Just wanted to let you know I just recently spoke to the teacher about her trip to London and she had such good things to say about you! She was so pleased with the tour and said you really made it worthwhile for them!

The London Blue Badge Tourist Guide Who Sailed The World

When fellow Blue Badge Tourist Guide Brian Harlock told me he was signing up to sail around the world I thought, hmm, nice. I imagined a luxury yacht, lazing around in the sunshine on calm waters, comfortable cabins and hot water (and of course a decent stock of chilled wine!). A few days before he set off on his adventure I visited him on board his boat Mission Performance and realised this trip was going to be anything but luxurious and felt an impending sense of fear and trepidation.

Blue Badge Tourist Guide Brian Harlock Is Sailing Around The World

On Sunday, 30 August we gathered with tears in our eyes and hankies at the ready to wave off our friend, colleague and now officially super-hero, Brian Harlock, on the greatest adventure of his life – the 10th Clipper Round the World Race. Over the next 11 months he will sail as part of the crew (The Warriors as they are known) on board Mission Performance, one of twelve 23-metre yachts, on a route that covers 9 countries, stops at 14 ports, covers 6 continents, and involves 6 ocean crossings and 40,000 nautical miles. During this time they are likely to get through 561,600 tea bags and 10,200 loaves of bread (baked on board by the crew) and they will use over 1,000 wet wipes per week! Those of you who visited him on board before he sailed will understand the importance of the wet wipes!
