Godfrey Davis
I’m excited at the prospect of sharing my love of London with you, whether it’s seeing the Changing of the Guard, telling tales at the Tower or just leisurely soaking in views of the Thames on a boat down to Greenwich.
I qualified as a London Registered Blue Badge Guide in 1995 and have guided her streets and alleyways ever since. I guide all the main sites including the Tower, Parliament, St Paul’s and Westminster Abbey where I worked briefly as one of the on call guides. For many years I also undertook Jack the Ripper walks covering some of London’s darker past. My guests from those tours say I’m “knowledgeable, well informed and humorous” whilst I’d describe myself as “flexible, organised, enthusiastic and up for a laugh.”
My first real taste of the capital, my adopted city, came in 1985 as a full-time Volunteer assisting a wheelchair user living in their London home. We explored London together sharing a love of Chelsea Football Club. It sparked my love for London, it’s sites, theatres, nightlife even. It also opened my eyes to issues around London’s accessibility as we went to home games together. I still go today.
My introduction to guiding came working at the Natural History Museum. I set up their Highlights, Architecture and Specimens Tours whilst training on the guiding course. Cleaning dust from the African Elephant’s rump with the humble home hoover just one of the highlights.
My love of guiding saw me subsequently qualify as a South East England Blue Badge Guide in 1996, so the delights of places like Leeds Castle, Canterbury - right on London’s doorstep - are also on my guiding radar. If you’re interested in something further afield I’ve guided all the major out of London sites including Stonehenge, Bath, Windsor in a career spanning over 25 years. Whatever your mode of travel be it public transport or hired car and whether you’re an individual, family, or student/incentive group I’ll endeavour to deliver a day out to remember.
Football aside, my other main interest is music and for the last few years I’ve been reliving the music of my youth attending concerts, predominantly rock/heavy metal artists at the O2, Olympic Stadium, Wembley, Twickenham, Wembley Arena and the Roundhouse. This has been the catalyst for a London Rock and Roll Tour which I’m currently working on and hope to add to my repertoire.
There’s such a wealth of experience, savoire fair, life experience with the award winning Blue Badge Guides that I’m sure you’d have a great day out with any one of them listed on these pages. Hopefully, having seen my short biography above, you might just chose me.
Just hope you’re not too disappointed by the so-called Bond looks described below!!

Reviews
“GODFREY was an excellent guide. Kind, funny, “cheeky” to use one of our favourite words of his. He connected with my 17 year old on music, my 15 year old on football and my husband on anything British!” TRIPADVISOR Los Angeles, California December 2019.
”Our guide GODFREY, was involved and knowledgeable of the tour sites. He was enthusiastic! You can tell he was proud of his country and enjoyed himself. The information was clear and exciting. His voice was as if it were at a theatre. Very captivating.” TRIPADVISOR Veronica, Atlanta US. February 2020
“GODFREY, our Bond-look-a-like was very knowledgeable and absolutely hilarious with his dry, British humor. He kept us informed throughout the tour. He provided history, humor all in one package” TRIPADVISOR Long, Texas. November 2019.
(“Think the Bond bit might be stretching it a little”. )
