Geoffrey Metzger
American by birth, I came to London in 1995 to launch The History Channel where I spent 13 years as Managing Director. Now I spend my time guiding, rowing on the Thames and walking in the Apennines. I like guiding people who are curious about history and culture (high and low), and who enjoy a good wander and a good conversation…although I can do all the talking if they prefer ;>). What I like most is seeing people get the buzz that London gives me.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY:
This was a great tour. Just having private access to the museum before the crowds arrive was amazing and we really did feel like VIPs. Our guide Geoff was fantastic. He really knew his stuff, gave great information as we went around the museum and was able to answer any questions. Would highly recommend this tour. ~ Ben N.
"This was my first time visiting London from the US. I was unsure which tour company to use and chose Take Walks after reading reviews. Best decision I could have made! Geoff was an incredible source of knowledge and information. Request to be in his group if you can. He had us positioned in all of the right places to see the best of London's sights throughout the day (Westminster Abbey, Changing of the Guards, Tower of London, etc.). He should be teaching PhD level history. Touring Westminster Abbey with Geoff was the highlight, but he also was able to show us smaller attractions throughout the city as we walked around. Take this tour!" ~ tripadvisor
"Geoffrey was a fantastic tour guide. From the moment he met us at our hotel until the time he left us back at the hotel he constantly was talking with us giving us tons of engaging information and sharing his knowledge about the history of London. He was extremely thoughtful kind and personable. He went out of his way to find things we could touch and other interactive objects. He guided both of us at the same time and made sure that we could easily walk the whole tour. (Robert and Tara were both blind) Whether we were in Westminster Abby, Trafalgar Square or on the boat cruise, everything he said was interesting and full of valuable information. At the end of the day he took an extra hour and a half of his time and brought us to evenings song at Westminster Abby. This was wonderful to hear and above and beyond. He even made sure to help us find a restaurant for dinner. My friend Tara and I weren't sure how we could make getting through and seeing London accessible, but Geoffrey certainly made this happen. This was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for everything and I really appreciate all of Geoffrey's help." ~ Robert H.
