Diane Burstein
Hello! I'm so looking forward to helping you discover London. My radio broadcasts on the subject of "Secret London" on LBC 97.3fm's Steve Allen Show and current contributions to BBC Radio London's Saturday Breakfast Show have made me one of London's best known guides. I love to show both visitors and Londoners the hidden corners, courtyards, alleyways and lesser known sites of my native City. I am known for my wide range of walking tours which are listed on my personal website www.dianesguidedwalks.london and I am always happy to prepare bespoke tours for clients.
In addition to walking tours, I offer the full range of Blue Badge Guiding services in museums, on coaches and at historic sites. I have extensive experience with corporate conference and incentive groups and have been involved in planning programmes for these groups. As a Tour Manager I have specialised in leading extended tours for Theatre and Choir groups. As a Further Education Lecturer, I teach "Discovering London" courses at a respected adult college.
My special interests are Literary and Theatrical London and ,as a regular theatregoer, am well placed to advise clients on the best shows to see in town. My interest in literature has led me to devise tours which show the homes, work places and drinking haunts of a variety of famous writers. An interest in film has led me to devise London Film Location tours, a subject which is proving increasingly popular with visiting groups. As a Jewish Londoner I lead Old Jewish East End Tours showing groups the sites associated with the history of Jewish immigration in London.
During the Covid lockdowns I started leading Virtual Tours via Zoom which I still run occasionally for the public to join and also for private booked groups. These are a great alternative to walking tours for those who prefer to explore London from the comfort of their living rooms but most days you'll find me out and about on the streets !
With 25 years of guiding experience, I am just as enthusiastic about London as I was on the day I qualified. Even if you feel you know London well I guarantee that I will uncover something that is new to you when you join me on a tour!
THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING ABOUT DIANE'S FACE TO FACE OUTSIDE WALKING TOURS:
"Our Arts Society had an informative and very enjoyable guided walk with Diane. From Battersea to Nine Elms (Electricity to Embassy). Whilst we all live in London, we discovered areas we knew little about. Great fun. She walked at our pace and took care to ensure we could all hear, knew where comfort breaks were, etc. Thank you Diane. We are looking forward to joining you again" . Geraldine Y, Arts Society Organiser about walking tour of the around London's two newest underground stations in Nine Elms and Battersea
"Great walk with Diane in Bermondsey. So well organised with social distancing . Have not been to London for months and this was a delight to return to. As always Diane’s knowledge was unsurpassable and I can’t wait for the next one. " Vicki G, participant in a recent walking tour of Bermondsey.
“Combines an excellent knowledge of her subject matter with a friendly and engaging approach”

THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING ABOUT DIANE'S VIRTUAL TOURS AND TALKS
"Diane gave our Arts Society a virtual tour this morning on Artists in London and it was on all counts outstanding. Her knowledge of London is so extensive and the tour was filled with good anecdotes. Being a virtual tour she has a very clever innovative method of taking her audience along the streets of London to each destination. We are planning to have her come and present to us at some time in the not too distant future. I can't recommend her highly enough. JOHN A, ARTS SOCIETY CHAIR commenting on the "ARTISTS IN LONDON" talk
“Diane, I thought you were marvellous, to speak from memory for an hour, knowledgeably and keeping the attention of everyone is a wonderful skill to have. Thank you.” KERRI MANSFIELD , WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGISTS commenting on the “HIDDEN HOLBORN and LITTLE ITALY” talk.
"Over 60 of us tuned in to the equivalent of a dozen walks in less than an hour, punctuated with a story at every corner, by a truly professional historian. A wonderfully fascinating talk".NEIL AND ANNE WATSON. U3A WALKING GROUP
"Thanks for your talk to The Finchley Society just now. I learnt a huge amount and you kept up the pace, links and interest levels superbly well". HOWARD D , FINCHLEY SOCIETY MEMBER commenting on the “LITERARY LONDON” talk
