I love London, its palaces, museums, galleries, parks and gardens. I am excited every day to show off its history and traditions and also to fill you in on what it is like to live here. Where do people go, what do Londoners do?  I love nothing more than pomp, period and pageantry. Guiding and being guided is so rewarding in this city and there is so much to experience!

Every area of the city has its own character. Day to day I find myself telling stories of fascinating characters, pioneers, trend setters, artists and music makers. I also describe the events that have taken place behind the walls of the many buildings in the city, historic and modern, and the way in which these events and people have changed our world. Another passion of mine is our museums - I love to explain the cultures of the British Museum, the art of the National Gallery or Tate Britain and the exquisite design of pieces in the Victoria & Albert Museum.

I can tell you what is going on behind the walls of our Royal residences... Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace and for the more adventurous ...lets take a trip to Hampton Court Palace which is less crowded and so rewarding.  There are many other areas outside London which are accessible on a day trip ... Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, Stratford are all easy to do in a day and if you don't have transport then let me know - I can also organise this for you. I also love to work with families - having a small child of my own.

Having been a Tour Manager conducting tours around Western Europe and in particularly Italy for much of my career I am missing seeing people and tourists.... I love being in company and opening people's eyes to the beauty and marvels of my amazing surroundings. Through the virtual tours I am keeping this up and I have had such a wonderful response.. including rounds of applause at the end... let's hope we can go back to viewing things in real life soon... in the meantime... see you online!  www.virtualtourslondon.co.uk

Since Covid I have been conducting imaginative, colourful and fascinating online tours of London which can be viewed from your own screen at home. These are available on a private basis for groups or families... choose your date and time. We will see even more than we can from the street. Do look me up and join one of these events and if you would like me to create something special for you just let me know.   www.virtualtourslondon.co.uk.

Virtual Tours include: Westminster, St James's, Greenwich, The Thames, Richmond upon Thames, London Gardens, Galleries and Museums, Wimbledon, South Kensington. And here are my reviews on TripAdvisor:

REVIEWS OF VIRTUAL TOURS

FANTASTIC VIRTUAL STROLL ALONG THE THAMES: "Absolutely first class! Anna told us the fascinating stories about this area of London. The tour is packed with fantastic stories and photos about the river, nature and villages around this region. I enjoyed it very much! Highly recommended!"

VIRTUAL EXCELLENCE: "Did the London Gardens -Botanics to Urban Tour and found the presentation good, some excellent photos and a lot of interesting information.I love doing guided walking tours which I have not been able to do and only recently discovered these virtual tours. Very highly reccommended."

LOVED FASHIONABLE ST JAMES'S: "Had a great early evening virtually visiting the fashionable St James area of London. Particularly enjoyed the chance to peek inside the shops and slip down the hidden alleyways, things I’m sure I wouldn’t have done if I’d gone there alone.  Thank you Anna, a Blue Badge guide with class."

The Birth of London's Museum Quarter in South Kensington

South Kensington in London is synonymous with museums. Three of our best known national museums can be found here: the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, known affectionately to many as The V&A.

La pierre de Rosette au British Museum de Londres - A la découverte des secrets de l'Égypte ancienne

One of the most popular items in the British Museum in London is the Rosetta Stone. It is rather unremarkable. It is the height of a child, cracked at the edges, lacking colour, and with inscriptions on only one side. There is little beauty in it, and the inscriptions are boring decrees - yet it is maybe one of the most famous stones in the world. For over 20 years it became the focus of a race to crack a code of strange pictures and shapes and in doing so uncover the life of Ancient Egypt.

London Locations For Netflix’s Bridgerton TV Series

Bridgerton, the most successful series to be produced by Netflix to date, has surpassed other period dramas in colour, drama and romance. The locations are exaggeratedly beautiful, the relationships are beguiling and the costumes dazzle with vivid tones and rich textures. London is the setting for many scenes and you yearn to visit each location, but do not watch Bridgerton for historical accuracy!
