Notting Hill Carnival in London
Notting Hill Carnival in London is one of the world’s largest and most colourful street carnivals, with two million people heading to the streets of Notting Hill for this celebration of Caribbean heritage. Across the Bank Holiday weekend, you’ll get to see some fabulous costumes as the Caribbean dancing comes alive to traditional reggae, meringue, calypso, rumba, and zouk music, peppered by numerous sound stages across the area. The Caribbean food is definitely one of the main attractions, with street vendors selling everything from seasoned jerk chicken to callaloo and traditional goat stew. If you’re planning to take your kids, go on Sunday as the smaller crowds and kid-friendly floats will make it fun. The main parade on Bank Holiday Monday will be more lively, so find yourself a spot somewhere along the route as it heads from Great Western Road, and along Chepstow Road and Westbourne Grove, before leading on to Ladbroke Grove.
