Trooping the Colour – The King’s Birthday Parade
If you want to see British pageantry at its best, come to London for the Trooping of the Colour, an event that has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years. This impressive ceremonial display takes place on Horse Guards Parade, with King Charles III attending and taking the salute. Over 1400 officers and men, together with 200 horses and 400 musicians, march and play as one.
The streets are lined with crowds waving flags as the parade moves from Buckingham Palace and down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade. After the event, the Royal Family gathers on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch an RAF flypast. Events begin at approximately 10 am, with the fly-past at 1 pm. Tickets for seats on Horse Guards Parade are available in advance (allocated by ballot), or you can watch the procession for free by joining the crowds lining The Mall.
Note: Tickets will go on sale in March 2024.
